...Wind Advisory remains in effect until 8 PM CDT this evening...

* timing...strong southeast winds will continue to increase this morning. The strongest winds will remain through the late morning into the afternoon...and are expected to gradually diminish through the evening hours.

* Weather conditions...southeast winds will average 25 to 35 mph with gusts to around 45 mph.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory is issued when sustained winds are forecast to be 31 to 39 mph or gusts will range between 46 and 57 mph. Winds of these magnitudes may cause minor property damage without extra precautions. Motorists in high profile vehicles should use caution until the winds subside.

The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls has issued a Fire Weather Watch for wind and low relative humidity...which is in effect from Thursday afternoon through Thursday evening.

* Affected area...in Nebraska...fire weather zone 249. In South Dakota...fire weather zones 255...256 and 258.

* Winds...northwest around 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

* Relative humidity...as low as 17 percent.

* Impacts...the potential exists for fast moving and intense grassland fires.

A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions may occur. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag warnings.
