The photo of this railroad bridge crossing the Red River on the top, taken in June 2005, shows what the water level ordinarly would be. The photo on the bottom, meanwhile, taken on April 4, shows how far the river has risen.
When I took the photo on the bottom, the water level of the Red River was 47.2 feet, 19.2 feet above flood stage and the 6th highest level in Grand Forks' history. The river is expected to crest at 47.4 feet on Wednesday morning. Luckily, no homes have been lost in the Grand Forks area as of yet due to the flooding.
