On the night of April 9 and the morning of April 10, a series of 300 photos were taken of the North and South Windows in Arches National Park. The photos were assembled to make these star trails. Just right of center, rising from the rocks, is the trail of the International Space Station. The streak in the sky in the center of the photo is trail of a meteor. I am not sure whether the very short streak left of that was caused by a meteor or an Iridium Flair.

Whoa! I feel like I'm spinning! :) Great information and thanks for sharing it. I wonder why the trails from the center to the right appear to be curving in one direction and the ones from the center to the left seem to be curving in the opposite direction. Would you know why? A fantastic photo!

Amazing,Amazing. I was just about to post a star shot from Arches when I saw this. I'll post it anyway but I have a lot to learn, It's was my first attempt at taking star shots. Your shot is as good as anything I've seen published in books.

Thank you all for your very kind comments.

To MissKitty2: I was facing west for the photo. The stars on the right are in the northern sky and appear to rotate around the point in the sky above the North Pole. The stars on the left are in the southern sky and appear to rotate around the point in the sky above the South Pole

AWESOME! Here's a question. Can one get the same effect with an extra long exposure, and not stitching them together?

About Sunnyguy
Sunnyguy I am a retired high school math teacher. My passions in retirement are my grandkids, photography and woodworking. I live in a suburb of Chicago, but love the canyons of Southern Utah and Northern Arizona. A perfect day is hiking, taking photos, and sleeping in my truck or under the stars in the backcountry. I have studied the “wunderful” photos on this site for a long time and your photos have inspired me and helped me to improve my photography.
