Weather Summary

Weather Underground Forecast for Sunday, May 18, 2008. A line of low pressure systems extending from western France through the Baltic Sea will bring active weather to the heart of the continent. This parade of storms will be possible due to broad trough of low pressure that will move from just a little west of France to Spain. One storm will move through northern Italy and into southern Poland by the end of the day. This feature will carry a significant amount of moisture that will produce heavy rain in northern Italy and the Alps. A line of precipitation will then extend into central Poland in the afternoon and evening.

Another stronger storm will track through the Baltic Sea and into Finland. This low will develop at the expense of another low that will die in the Baltic Sea. Because this low will be much higher in latitude, it will carry cold air that will produce areas of snow in the northern Baltic Sea and southern Finland. Cool rain is also likely throughout the Gulf of Finland area. The storm's associated cold front will extend southwestward towards the aforementioned low in northern Italy. Areas of rain will be likely along this boundary.

A ridge of high pressure will keep the United Kingdom dry.

London will rise into the upper 50s(F)/mid-10s(C), while Paris will see temperatures in the upper 50s(F)/mid-10s(C). Moscow will rise into the upper 70s(F)/mid-20s(C).

Weather History:

Did you know that...

Before careful when you golf. A golfer at the Fox Meadows Course in Memphis, Tenn. was standing near a tree when he was struck by lightning on this date in 1983. The bolt traveled through his neck, down his spine, and out a pocket containing his keys. The bolt then went into the tree nearby.
