I tried the pire pit last night and I think I've forgotten how to cook over coals. :) With the strong winds yesterday I didn't want to start a fire so I used charcoal left over from the grandaughters fire the other night. I ended up starting the steaks on the firepit and finishing them on the gas BBQ. I guess I'll have to buy some ready made charcoal the next time I use the firepit as a BBQ. A good thing is that the time over the smoldering coals did add to the flavor. I'll do better next time.
With a high of 29 expected today I'll have to dig the kid's small plastic pool out of the hoard and set it up for the little girls to splash in.
I got another compliment for Abbey's behavior yesterday. At the end of her free run I whistled once and she came running and out her heaed in the loop of the choke chain I use for walking her. A gentleman, driving past, stopped and said " Is that dog ever well trained". He had a small lapdog which he said if he let loose would run away. I think any dog can be taught to behave like Abbey if thier given the chance. They may run away at the start but will come back when called if they know who's the leader of the pack and praised when the do return. A dog always wants to please it's master.

Hope your "Queen" spent an enjoyable Mother's Day, while with loved ones and feasting on that elaborately cooked steak. Be careful about the use of charcoals, however, as it's recently been shown to release carcinogens into one's food and air. You'd truly be better off, healthwise, by safely marinating the steak for an hour or two before strictly using a gas grill. It's a much safer and equally flavorful method. Just a thought.
As far as our same day Mother's Day, birthday occasions were concerned, yesterday, we don't plan on cheating my hubby out of his pending gift. We will wait till the better end of the week before marking his special occasion with some fine dining in a locally nice restaurant. Quite frankly, we both deserve a night out together! LOL!
Hope your weather holds up better than ours right now. At least, this go round, our 3-day rainy spell is bringing along much warmer temps. No more seasonally abnormal, overnight frost or freeze warnings or miserably high pollen counts. I can live with that for awhile! LOL!
Continued enjoyment of those daily walks with Abbey!
Good morning Tony. Hope your Monday is going well for you so far today. Been busy tidying up so I can get some outside stuff done today. Temps are up in the high 70s today so going to enjoy it when I can. Now that frost is over, I can plant some of the more delicate plants I have. Lets just hope we have a good summer to enjoy them.
Have a great day dear ones, try not to get into too much mischief....
After a winter in the icebox, I'll bet 29C does feel like being the steak on your BBQ!
Take care!
