05:40, 75F, partly cloudy, ground fog. waning full moon over the palmettos in the SW. rooster up. barred owl whoo-ing out by decrepit horse barn. trawling offshore today.
08:00, low tide at CK. spoonbill poses on a mud bank. mid-80's, partly cloudy. wind from west, 5 knts. light chop. water temp, 29.6C, 85.4F, offshore as well as near shore. tide coming in. fished mostly with the otter trawl although we did a few offshore sets with the 70 ft. bait seine. most of the fishing was done over seagrass, or sponge beds. most sets we got a lot of different fish. a few sets netted just 2 or 3 fish. we did get two young-of-the-year gag grouper from a sea grass trawl. a lot of pinfish. stingrays in almost all the sets. a spotted eagle ray - a male, almost 500 mm. wide. offshore, the water was green and clear. an active pod of dolphin, at least 10, approached the boat then turned and headed away.
15:50, very high tide at #4 bridge. egrets in the spartina.
16:20, 92F, still, partly to mostly cloudy. dogs out running around. got 2 eggs.
20:30, 87F, mostly cloudy. pale yellow sunset. young dog ran around the sheep pasture. waning full moon coming up fairly soon.
