Where I live, there are few natural pollinators -- some migrating butterflies, and no bees. Much of the pollination is done by the wind and us (at least for flowering vegetables).
We've had a bananaquit nest outside our door, in which the chicks recently grew and flew away. Bananaquits are unusual in that they can't hover as a hummingbird does, so often their stragegy is to perform strange aerial acrobatics that result in piercing the ovule of a flower to tap its nectar -- all on the fly. Amazing to watch.
I love the look of your plants. It feels like controlled chaos, and that's where (imo) nature really soars -- where you can shape it, but not supress it.
Love your blogs. Please keep sharing. :o)
