Finn & her hubby will be out of town for a week, but their daughter will be here taking care of me and the three doggies. That red haired little puppy Lucy is a beast! Gotta keep my feet up all the time, she's teething and my legs seem to fascinate her. I try to play tug of wars with her, but she is more interested in my limbs than her rags. I miss crab's kitties, they were so well behaved... :)
I'll post news next week!
We're off to Finland and hope the swirly thingys on the Atlantic will all be sheared to death.
ATLANTIC SALUTE!
PS. Our little "redhead" Lucy is now 3 months old and has doubled her weight in one month, she's 15 lbs already and sooo beautiful!
EDITING: Our trip to Finland was canceled due to illness of the retreat organizer. Nothing serious, but couldn't show my birthland to Miss OBug :( so I sent her off to readagainPagtti, who will take OBug for a roadtrip in September,
Patrap has a great preparedness blog, and for animal safety, check IMA's fab blog.
Take care and stay safe my friends!
It's that time of year..
... All persons in South Florida should monitor the latest information on Isaac...
Check batteries for radios and flashlights, drinking water, canned or dried food, first aid supplies and prescription medicine. Have a sufficient supply of Cash as access to credit cards and automated Cash machines may not be available without power. Check fuel levels on automobiles, generators and chain saws.
Thanks for dropping by, and "Yes, yes, yes!" lol
I don't like the look of Isaac - he is an over-weight guy!
All take care :)
WE ARE UNDER TROPICAL STORM WARNING
In a way, it's been a curse joining WU. I have so many friends now to worry about. Not that I didn't feel anxious or concerned about anyone in a storm's path but it wasn't personal. Now it is.
I'm sure ya'll are prepared. I can imaging what a 'culture' shock it was to move to 'Cane Country! I know it didn't take you long to learn.
I backtracked through your comments again and see that the trip to Finland was unexpectedly cancelled.
I'm sure OB, and you, were disapointed.
On the bright side, she gets to see Patti!
Finn, sorry that the trip was canceled, but must admit, really good seeing you around the blogs!
Take good care, and hopefully, with the track shift, Isaac will be kind to you!
Back to weather:
MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARW WITH EVEYBODY ON ISAAC'S PATH!
Palm Beach County, FL is under a tornado watch, a flood watch
and TROPICAL STORM WARNING:...
PLEASE STAY SAFE FELLOW FLORIDIANS AND REMEMBER THAT FAYE WAS "ONLY" A TROPICAL STORM BUT CAUSED 36 DEATHS! MANY WERE DUE TO FLOODS, SOME DUE TO FLYING TREE BRANCHES AND OTHER PROJECTILE-LIKE OBJECTS THROWN AROUND BY SAME STRENGTH GUSTS (50-65MPH) THAT WE ARE EXPECTING TODAY.
DO NOT DRIVE UNLESS YOU KNOW THE ROAD WELL...
Edit: Just do not drive at all if not an emergency.
R.I.P Neil Armstrong - I wish I could have seen what you saw :)
May the storms gently swirl about with wonder without harm.
We are on the NE quadrant of Isaac and getting lots of rainbands and winds gusts around 50mph here. If it's safe, I'll drive to the beach to get a pic or two. Watcing the radar now to make sure it will be ok.
However, this is no big deal for FL, we get storms with same characteristics as right now quite often.
My heart is breaking for our friends in GOM :*(
Hope you, hubby and the pups weathered Isaac OK. From what I've been hearing, it's been a lot of rain but not much wind, which has been a blessing. Everyone is squelching around outside but that'll dry out. The alternative was much worse!
Now, we just have to worry about Doc, Foxx, Code, et al up on the Gulf Coast. And the folks in W FL.
I see they've cancelled the first day of the Republican Convention in Tampa.
Just what were they thinking, anyway? You don't plan some Big Do like that in FL during The Season. That's just asking for trouble!
It's all the Republican's fault!
Thanks {{{Wab}}} for posting on my behalf while I was disconnected. Not knowing what was going on and being unable to follow Isaac on WU or TV was worse than the flooding we got...
The mess started right after the last time I was online on Sunday with a power outage, gusty winds and rain. I left the shop while it was safe to drive home, and later that Sunday night, when Isaac was 400 miles away (!) over the Keys, we had gusts up to 65mph and the worst rain bands were dropping 2" of rain per hour. I just read that my area has received 11"-12" of rain so far and still some more to come. Wellington and Acreage got an unprecedented 16" and still counting. People coming from work yesterday couldn't get back to their homes with even our main streets under water. Some streets are washed away and turned into waterfalls joining canals. The squalls were pounding us for over 48 hours and Palm Beach County really got it good. I haven't heard of any fatalities or injuries yet as I just got internet back, but I guess people heeded the warning and we were fairly lucky. These videos are borrowed from Skyepony's blog, where she has more info.
However, what I just described is nothing compared to what Isaac will bring to the Gulf coast. My heart is with Doc, Code, Foxx, tkeith and all other friends up the coast and inland on Isaac's path. Hopefully Isaac will at least bring rain to all the areas that desperately need it.
Really guys, Isaac may "only" be a cat 1 or TS, but he is NASTY!!! Please do not underestimate the flooding and tornadoes this guy is causing and stay safe all!
A candle is lit at Finn's house...
Doc tends to go into hibernation mode during storms, which I can understand. If he has power, he may just be Isaac watching and not feeling like hanging out on the blogs.
I just hope he checks in with someone, at some point. Either here or by phone. I'm not sure who might have his number or whose he has.
Shore has spoken with Wendy either late yesterday or early today. That's Bayou Woman, who lives down below Houma. She's weathering the storm in Houma, where she has family. Where she lives was under mandatory evac orders. They battened down the hatches and moved to town.
No flooding problems downtown today, thank heavens.
Yeah, I know Doc is good with these storms, that calms me, but I have a knot in my stomach knowing he doesn't check in for weeks. As years pass, the friends I have made here are part of my life and I rejoice when Nola Roux makes Pat a grandpa, when Gamma retires, when people get better after being sick. I've witnessed love stories, been cyber-pregnant along with Skye and others, cried when someone lost a loved one and worried about the safety of my WUBAs when storms hit. Since I moved here 7 years ago I've made more friends inside WU than in my daily life outside WU!
This blog entry made me smile today:

After years of lurking, I finally realized how it is you know that you've been lurking on the blog a little too long in one sitting.
1. You wore out your F5 key.
2. You understand Taz on first reading.
3. The Tampa shield doesn't sound like a minor league sports team's name.
4. You read Aussie's posts with an accent.
5. You know (and care) that Pat's dog had puppies.
6. You can define a westcaster, floridacaster, upcaster and downcaster... with examples.
7. You know that, when it comes to hurricanes, sometimes science is an art.
8. You randomly crave Fresca.
9. Jim Cantore causes you physical pain when he is on TV.
10. You root for a thunderstorm off of the CV islands to become a hurricane then you try to steer into open ocean it by sheer force of will.
11. You.stop.noticing.dots.between.words.
12. You find yourself genuinely hoping that people you've never met get through the storm safely.
Just read on Skye's blog that you and hubby have the flu.
Hope you get better real soon!
Take care of yourself.
Hope the two of you feel better soon.
I did get a chuckle out of that "How to tell you've been lurking too long" list!
Wishing you White Rabbits, White Rabbits, White Rabbits
and a FUN and SAFE month of September!
I loved your entry #130. You put into words what many of us think about our WUBA family.
And I love the copy and paste - so true! lol
Glad no cone of doom lurking anywhere now, may it stay that way.

For the first time in my life I feel old. Looking at the amount of meds and the list of when and how many to take... yikes!
Lucy is 4 months old and growing a lot bigger. I've forgotten how to download pics from my phone but when I figure it out again, will post them.
This bad virus going around has made us value health more than ever.
Back to bed after I take a look at the beautiful cat 5 super typhoon Sanba and send safety wishes for the poor Koreans on its path.
Okay, that's pretty cool!
Just wanted to thank you for your post on my blog.
Didn't mean to ignore you...just missed it somehow.
I trust that you are feeling better.
Oh...I put a little bit of a book I'm hoping to finish some day on GardenGrrl's blog in case you want to check it out. If folks are interested, I might put a couple more excerpts.
