Noisy night

Very noisy around here last night with all the firecrackers etc. going from 7PM to 1AM which is the time period when it is legal to use them.

Occasionally there was a large, loud burst which sounded more like military ordnance and they shook the house. I know those were illegal but what can one do?

For a few years their use has dwindled and nothing like it was during the 50s and 60s when their use was completely unregulated but last night was just like way back then!

A lot of smoke was the end result of course as there were virtually no breezes to take it away. We are now in a period of light winds with offshore breeze at night and onshore breezes during the day.

I hope the 2012 is a better year for everyone than 2011 was but I have my serious doubts about that.

Happy New Year to you. We were remarkably quiet last night - it sounded like a few kids with firecracker strings, and the occasional roman candle. It was quiet enough that the cat never stirred.

I suspect the larger world will find things even more difficult in 2012, but my personal world will (I hope) be more stable and stressful. So much of last year was taken up with Mom's final illness and death, and all that goes with that - well, from about February on things were controlled chaos.

So. On we go! Best wishes for a healthy and prosperous year!

Well..if we must have chaos it is better to have it controlled!!!!

I agree that 2012 is going to be another rough year but if we have the will to survive, we WILL make it! Come hell or high hurricane!!
