.Looking down into the Sea this morning it looks like the entire Sea is pretty much free of any cloudiness.
Looking over to Sonora I can see they have just a few thunderbumper in the past 24 hours and in the past 6 hours however there has been a band of just showers over the Sonoran deserts all night.
There have been no storms move out into the Sea in the past 24 hours.
Looking now to the Mexican Riviera where there has been a lot of thunderbumper activity from just south of Cabo Corrienties to Zihuatanejo over night however most have dissipated by this except directly over Zihuatanejo where at 7am there was still a thumper over that area. I get my data from the airport there and they do not have a rain gage but if they did I’m sure it would show some rain accumulations since midnight.
There are three Tropical Waves in our hood and one in the Caribbean headed our way.
The first is just moving through Central America into the basin and it is moving into the ITCZ/Monsoon trough where there is little chance of tropical development. .
The second wave is a bit north of the ITCZ/Monsoon trough and SW of Acapulco. There is a weak low within the monsoon trough and the wave and the low will move in tandem for the next couple of days with little chance of tropical development.
The third wave is well out in the basin around 117W and has a few scattered clouds in the vicinity and poses not threat to land.
The wave in the Caribbean has just passed over Cuba this morning and will be a couple of days before it shows up on our doorstep.
So as of right now there is nothing cooking in our Tropical Kitchen
that should cause us any concern.
That’s what is going on in our hood so looking now north to the west coast of America today where under high pressure it will be pretty much just like yesterday with sunny skies and temperatures in the 90s inland and in the mid 70s along the coast.
Southern California has weak upper level low off the coast that will bring some cloudiness to the region. There is a slight chance of some thunderbumpers in the mountains and deserts today.
Looking now over to the southwest where storms in Sonora will bring a slight chance of thunderbumpers and showers to the southwest today mainly in the higher terrain. This image is showing most will be in the SE corner of the state and in the SW corner to New Mexico. Monsoonal activity will increase next week. Temperatures in the southwest will continue to be in the high 90 and low 100s into the weekend.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence the moderate winds continue. The northern Sea will see moderate SE winds today and then the winds will have a northern or Eastern component on Saturday and Sunday.
The central Sea moderate winds mostly thermal driven in the afternoons. Moderate southerlies on the Sonoran side and moderate easterly or north easterly on the Baja side for the 3-day forecast period.
The southern Sea light southerlies for today and tomorrow then moderate southerlies on Sunday.
Temperatures will inch up a few degrees and we should see triple digits in a number of locations today.
