At 3:32 PM MDT, Denver International Airport reached 82 degrees, for a new record high for the date. The old record was a very old one...81 degrees which had stood since 1879! In our neighborhood in Thornton, the high was also 82. In downtown Denver at 21st and Broadway, the high was 82 as well. The highest temperature in Colorado was 88 in Lamar, with Burlington reaching 87. Most locations on the eastern plains were in the 80s.
This was the warmest March day in Denver since the all-time March record of 84 was set on the 26th in 1971. The only other times it has ever been this warm or warmer in March were on the 18th in 1907 (82) and the 28th in 1963 (83).
Tomorrow will still be warm, but not record-breaking, with the high forecast near 70. By Friday it will turn much cooler with a high only in the mid 40s and a chance of rain or snow showers.
