Statement as of 24. huhtikuuta 2014 klo 08:13 (MDT)

...Red flag warning remains in effect until 7 PM CDT /6 PM MDT/ this evening for wind and low relative humidity for western and north central Nebraska...

* affected weather zone 204 eastern Panhandle/Crescent Lake weather zone 206 sandhills/Valentine NWR/Nebraska National Forest/Samuel r mckelvie National weather zone 208 Niobrara valley/fort Niobrara weather zone 210 Frenchman basin and fire weather zone 219 loess plains.

* Winds...northwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

* Relative low as 11 percent.

* Impacts...any range fire start will have the potential to burn out of control and exhibit extreme fire behavior.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now...or will shortly. A combination of strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures will contribute to extreme fire behavior.

...Merriman NOAA all-hazards weather radio undergoing maintenance...

A technician is on site at the Merriman NOAA Weather Radio transmitter... and will be conducting repairs and accomplishing testing through at least 230 PM CDT. For the next several hours the Merriman NOAA all-hazards weather radio will be off and on air intermittently as this testing and preventive maintenance occurs.
